IM+ for Skype Software can work both with EVDO and EDGE, you just need to obtain correct settings from your wireless carrier.

I've used EDGE. but had a lot of Echo.

Victoria:

Why aren't my landline numbers available to call ( The call command within the blackberry client isn't available..?)

Would there be a dialpad? Can you do something about the echo?

Unhappy Still no go

Shape Services, I have installed the latest versions (desktop and mobile client) of IM for Skype but it still can not connect. My settings, user name etc. are definitely correct and my IM+ works fine but not the IM Skype. I just get the error saying Bad Connect but Skype and IM Skype desktop are definitely running, where to now? I did tell Skype to allow IM Skype to access it so it is not that. Could it be a firewall issue?

The latest version of IM+ is 4.3.

You can download the latest version from our site:
SHAPE Services - IM+ for BlackBerry RIM devices :: BlackBerry :: Download
Installation instruction:
1. Download .zip archive with installation files.
2. Unzip the archive to any folder on your PC.
3. Plug BlackBerry device into connected cradle.
4. Run BlackBerry Desktop Manager on your PC, chose Application Loader, browse
into folder with unzipped files and select the *.alx file.
Note: You should have BlackBerry Desktop v 4.1 with service pack 1, which can be
downloaded from RIM website.
5. The icon of IM+ application appears on your device.
6. Select the icon and run the application.

Alternatively you can install IM+ OTA.
WAP download location is: wap.shapeservices.com

I have tried this out and it seems to work well.

My question is how does the application on the blackberry connect to the internet? is this via GPRS through WAP or does this work through the blackberry network thus not costing money to be connected?

thanks

Connection type is configurable.
You can change connection type in Settings / Connection.
If you are on BES, select "Force MDS/BES".
Otherwise you can select "Default", "Direct TCP" or "Use BIS transport".

Or press on Menu button and select "Autoconfig". Application will close. The re-open it, press Menu and select "Start". Autoconfigurator will find working connection type.
