Until the BB can play music for 12+ hours straight without needing to be charged, it won't be replacing my iPod.

It would be nice if it could, though. I'd rather only carry my BB when I'm riding my motorcycle than having to carry both.

Absolutely. In the vehicle I plug the BB into the head unit. Bose headphones at home or on the MB. One less device to lug around and 8 gigs is plenty for me as I never keep more than a couple hundred songs on hand anyway. Having 4 Slacker stations cached adds about 400 more as well.

I have found that utilizing very good quality accessories (Alpine/Bose) with the BB makes it a more than adequate music player for me.

What iPod do you have?

I've never ran both side by side, however my Curve would outlast my iPod Video comfortably.

Only at the gym. It was getting to be a pain to bring my nano and my BB with me, so I passed my Nano onto my daughter and use a 8GB card in my curve while on the Elliptical!

But as far as my iPod touch...nope! I carry my BB and my Touch everywhere I go (except the gym)!

Default iPod? I don't need no stinkin' iPod!

I have an 8130 with an 8GB card. When coupled with a pair of high-end headphones the berry rocks!

I have a 30 gig 3G iPod which will play for 7 - 8 hours on a charge. And I have a 60 gig iPod Photo which will play for 15 - 16 hours on a charge.

I use the Photo when I go on rides and, as long as I remember to put it on the charger the night before, it always lasts all day. That is with having it playing continuously when I'm riding, and hitting Pause to stop it when I stop (but not holding down Pause to turn it off). That's on rides that frequently start at 9am and last until 6pm or later and cover 350+ miles of twisty roads in the mountains. The 3G iPod would almost always run out of juice some time during the afternoon on those same rides.

borockster: have you used slacker enough to get a feel for how much battery life it sucks while running? i just installed it yesterday. it's a really smooth app, but it seems like it takes an awful lot of juice to keep the music streaming. unless i get overwhelming evidence that slacker doesn't put near as much of a dent in battery life as i think it does, i'll probably be sticking with my ipod for all of my on-the-go music needs....

I am going to have to say yes...but only because I have the very first Ipod Nano which is only 2gb.

So now when I go to the gym, I just put my BB in a leather case and use that for my tunes.
