There is nothing wrong with your Blackberry device. This problem is quite simple. If you look at the SSL Certificate details above, the SSL cert for the Blackberry routing servers has EXPIRED (Oppps, someone at RIM really goofed). Let's see how long it takes RIM to renew their cert.

Here's a temp work around until RIM gets their act together:
1. Goto Options
2. Select Security Options
3. Select TLS
4. Configure following TLS settings-

TLS Default: Handheld
Protocol: TLS/SSL
Server Authentication:
Prompt for Server Trust: No
Client Authentication:
Prompt for Certificate: No
Prompt If Client Cert Not Found: No
(all other fields can be left as the default value)

5. Hard reset your Blackberry
6. Verify that email and syncing works

When RIM renews their cert you should just be able to change the TLS Default: to Proxy.

(Note: Perform the above modifications at your own risk. I will not be held responsible if something goofs.)

;)

I got the same error yesterday, I guess RIM forgot to update their certificate before it's expiration date, what a joke...someone fell asleep while documenting when to change the certificate.

This was still occurring today so I opened up a ticket. Just got a call back that this has been escalated to RIM's network team, which no doubt is scurrying to find which server(s) has the outdated cert loaded on it.

No ETA, but I guess with RIM admitting there is a problem is a good first step to recovery.

Default solution here ?!

Called TMO support and this rep had not yet heard of this error message. After a bit of troubleshooting with me he transferred me to RIM.
On hold with RIM for 10+ minutes before I actually spoke with a support person.

use what I have written at your own risk
They had me delete the TMO Certificates located under Options, Security, Certificates. Once those were deleted removed battery and then put battery back in. I then went to the Curve help icon and selected "BlackBerry HELP! web site" Choose "HotSpot @Home (UMA) is not working on by BlackBerry Curve 8320" and followed those intructions.

So far I have not gotten the same message.

Hopefully this is really the solution.

Although I've only gotten the message once today in the morning (from 9:45am - now, the phone has been off here at work), I'm not experiencing major issues. So when RIM gets their certificate renewed, will it be pushed to the handheld or what? How will we know it's renewed?

I guess the good news is that it dosn't seem to actually effect UMA other than a pop up message. I have been free of them today.

Unhappy Same Errors on 8820

I'm getting lots of these same errors over the last few days, including in the last hour, on my 8820. Any progress updates would be greatly appreciated.

still getting the error message, i've noticed for me that when my wifi changes to a different router and connects to it. I get these annoying msgs, but it doesn't affect the phone everything still works fine. Hopefully there will be some kind of fix for it soon.
