OS Updates need to be done via a PC. Can't be done OTA.

I figured this would be the answer - always check though.

Mac users are screwed with this phone!

You can always downgrade it to 3.8. I did that with my 4.0 warranty replacement.

Just got the text...I downloaded the 26mb file, but this... "Before you upgrade your handheld, make sure you back up any important information from your BlackBerry handheld to your desktop to preserve your handheld data. You can then restore the information on your handheld after the upgrade is complete."

From the website makes me not want to do it. Also, I have no problems with my BB...Is it worth doing?

This is a serious problem with my BB "* Improper 850mhz scanning which lead to messages like “no network” or “searching” for an extended period of time."

I had the same problem - all of the time. Just installed the new OS and BAM!! the thing logged on to the network. So far, so good...(I know, I'm doomed now).

My phone would search forever, if I didn't move to a different area. It pisses me off. You did the upgrade...did it wipe your BB clean and you had to restore your data? Also, it says you need the latest PC software..Is the version that came in the box the latest? I am eager to fix this search issue.

Yes, it wiped it clean. I had it backup all my data before installation and then restore it once it completed. No problems there at all. Don't know what version came in the box since I had a network install from my company, but for what it's worth my desktop version is 4.0.0.30 (check at Help - About). If you don't have the most recent Desktop Manager then get that from your provider as well. Good luck.

I don't see this version on the T-Mo popup. Do you have a link?

Well, I upgraded my 7290 to this version today and now I lost wireless email reconciliation. I don't have a reconcile now option and when I look at the Email Reconciliation option on the BB, there is no setting to turn it on or off.

IMHO, it's worth "losing" your inbox. What good is the inbox anyway if you are never able to acquire a signal?

Has anyone else noticed that they toatlly re-vamped the calculator app in this release (not that anyone cares or even uses it)? But, it actually looks usable now....just amazing.

What about the audio static problem that occurs with the previous version of 4.0? Does it fix that? If it doesn't, I'm sticking with 3.8 which works perfectly as far as I am concerned.
