Wow. I love OS6!! Here is the process I used to install it:
- backed up phone using Desktop Manager
- Backed up all third party apps according to here and here
- Downloaded OS6 from the link in the first post of this thread
- Ran the downloaded OS6 file after the download completed
- Ran BB Boss (any shrink tool will work) and selected the folder OS6 was installed to
- Put a check in the box next to all of the crap I did not want installed
- Then ran loader.exe (after double checking that the vendor.xml wasn't present)
- Restored contacts, calendar, etc., info from backup
- Restored third party apps from back up (per second step)

Re: Latest OS: 9700 6.0.0.1879/6.0.0.448 (All Languages)
Howard,
Man they have buried this info but added some cool new stuff (active CPU and Memory displays!).
Options -> Device -> Application Management -> Memory / Now says I have 169.2MB used and 86.8MB free. 140.7MB used by BBOS6
I have the following apps installed (either by choice or by ATT force):
SocialScope
Berryweather
Amazon
Blackberry App World
Blackberry Application Center
Blackberry Messenger
Browser (thank Chthulu for a real webkit-based browser)
Calculator
Calendar
Clock
Contacts
Capture IT
Email Setup Application
Facebook
File Explorer
Google Maps
Help (i should probably remove this)
Home Screen (never thought of this as an app)
Last Pass
Media
MemoPad
Messages
Starbucks Card Mobile
Options
Password Lock
Social Feeds
Tasks
Tether
Tivo Scheduler
YouTube (i should probably remove this)
Also ATT seems to install some other crap that I can't remove either on device or by using BB Boss or BBSAK. They are Weather Channel, Bloomberg, Sims3, Bejeweled, ATT App Center, vlingo, where, allsport gps, YPmobile, ATT Maps+Nav and CityID Free Trial.
If I could remove those, I'm sure I would be closer to 100MB free.

Thanks for the detailed info! With all those apps you still have a good chunk of memory left, so it sounds like the OS shrink worked out well. I guess the best you can do with the ATT stuff you can't remove is hide it from view.

I also have problem with Bluetooth. My Nokia's handsfree try to connect than I get error on my BB screen that "Cannot connect with Nokia CK-7W". Initial connection was OK than maybe once was succesfull. There wasn't any problems with leaked earlier OS: Package Version: 6.0.0.1478

Re: Latest OS: 9700 6.0.0.1879/6.0.0.448 (All Languages)
quick question, i had an earlier version of the 6.0OS (the leaked one, dont remember the exact version) and my fone was hanging a lot, i realized that it could be mostly because of the lack of memory on the 9700. does that happen to others as well??
kindly advice as confused if i should upgrade from my existing 5.1.0.177??

OS 6 needs more memory than OS 5. If you use a lot of apps, you will want to use an OS shrink tool on OS 6 before you install OS 6 to your Blackberry.

Re: Latest OS: 9700 6.0.0.1879/6.0.0.448 (All Languages)
Going into my fourth day with this version of OS 6 and everything seems to be working great. Still getting used to the different Trays, but its only a minor thing. Seems to be second nature to me now. I have only done one battery pull (right after I had the new OS setup and all settings transfered and confirmed they were correct) since 17 Feb 2011.
Currently memory usage is at 221.4MB w/ Blackberry 6.0.0 System Software using 189.9MB, Options using 10.8MB and the home screen using 7.6MB. The rest of the used memory are small amounts (for example, 1.5MB for BerryWeather) and appear to be normal.
Compare that with my original post on 17 Feb of total memory usage at 169.2MB with 140.7MB used by Blackberry OS 6.0.0 System Software.
One thing I have found that may be a UI bug has to do with new message notification. I have all of my messages (SMS, all email accounts) in one folder called Messages.
When I hear the new message notification (love the new sounds in OS 6, btw) I go to the home screen. Or I take it out of keypad lock. I see the new message count at the top of the screen, below the time. However, when I look at my messages folder in the tray at the bottom, it does not have the red star on it until I scroll down to it. Once the folder is highlighted, the red star appears on the envelope.
This doesn't happen all the time and isn't a big problem. Its probably a function of the limited memory.

I have been running .448 for weeks now and I am very happy with it. The platform has been stable and created no problems worth mention. I like the new interface and the improvements in the built-in apps. Blackberry did good on 6.0. It is finally an OS that feels worthy to compete.

.461 or .418 has been the most stable for me. 424 was horrible for me personally.

Question:
How can we make sure which crap is actually a crap we don't need on the BB, as opposed to leaving out something that we actually need, especially under "Advanced Users!" section. Do you have a screen shot of what you checked in that screen? There are some obvious ones, like verizon/t-mobile stuff if you are on ATT, and stuff like other languages, dictionaries, but how about other stuff?

All still fine... I see what everyone means about BB cursor, but frankly, that's a very minor issue!
Anyway, one thing I have noticed is that I never get calendar icon when a reminder comes up, although I do get the sound.... Any ideas?

you will want to reload the software and make sure that you dont select yahoo messneger as a pre-installed app. after you completed a reload then download the yahoo messenger from BB Appworld.
Please dont double post in different sections the same question

Re: OS: 9700 6.0.0.1879/6.0.0.448 (All Languages)
I am having problem with camera. It keeps thinking I ran out of space. It keeps saying 2 pictures remaining, even though I went to pictures and deleted bunch of them, it makes no difference... For some reason the deleted pictures do not free up any space on SD Card.. I just checked it keep saying 1MB available.
