Hehe. Wish that was possible! I used to work for a major bank in the USA and Level3 had quite a few major outages just before the credit crisis struck. We all used to joke and say Level3 caused the crisis because banking transactions would all be halted.
About 2 years later Level3 had a routing loop between New York and Washington DC. It took over 40 days for them to resolve the problem. It was horrible. They actually refused to talk to my ISP because they were not a customer. Instead, my ISP had to call another ISP who called another ISP who then called Level3 to report the issue. 40 days later is was resolved. It was a minor typo on a router config.

Wasn't a RIM issue but an ISP issue routing to them.

Re: SRP Disconneted - RIM tech support stated other reports are coming in now
Sadly users see 'blackberry outage' and they really don't care that its Level3 -- it worked before, it didn't work this morning and other services seemed to work (so its not an obvious all internet outage).
I know my users are already out with the snide 'my iPhone is still up' comments.

Sadly, that would include most of the posters who come out when there is "an outage".

That goodness for that. I can't imagine living in a world where Belgium is without BlackBerry service. The horror!

Re: SRP Disconneted - RIM tech support stated other reports are coming in now
There was a large Internet outage this morning that affected multiple upper ISPs, this was not a RIM outage. There were no issues with any of RIMs infrastructure, and none of RIMs systems went down.

Re: SRP Disconneted - RIM tech support stated other reports are coming in now
I guess all the competition has to do is pay time warner to go down once a week for a few weeks and we will all be using iphone/androids lol..... you have to admit, it was bad timing for RIM. the move is on, how do you stop it, i don't know

Re: SRP Disconneted - RIM tech support stated other reports are coming in now
Time Warner didn't have the outage; it was caused by Level 3. And if the Exchange (Active Sync) server your iPhone was connected to was also on a circuit impacted by Level 3, you'd also have had a problem.
Never let the details get in the way of an Internet Posting.

Re: SRP Disconneted - RIM tech support stated other reports are coming in now
Well everything worked in my environment except the SRP connection to to RIM. So worries about all our iphones/androids.
Attempting to connect to :
us.srp.blackberry.com (68.171.242.33), port 3101
ERROR: connect() failed: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

Re: SRP Disconneted - RIM tech support stated other reports are coming in now
I just think it was weird that the only outage we had was RIM. We connect to allot of outside org's but none of them had an issue. The only reason I said Time Warner is because our RIM contact blamed it on them.

Re: SRP Disconneted - RIM tech support stated other reports are coming in now
Good Article, I read it yesterday. But it didn't stop my management from questioning RIM. RIM really didn't need this to happen more then most companies. I have been working with RIM since the first devices could go on Lotus Notes and I tell people, security is better then all other choices but in a day and age where users want toys to go with the phone, it is going to be a hard sell as time goes on, especially with the cost difference.

Re: SRP Disconneted - RIM tech support stated other reports are coming in now
I find this interesting ....... out of the 275 blackberry users on my BES, not one person noticed that email wasn't going thru.
Not even the guy who sits at his desk with outlook open on his pc, and charts the time it takes for email to reach his blackberry. Not even kidding. He called me once all freaked out when it dinged on his blackberry first before showing in outlook. I'm guessing every BES admin has one of these users....or maybe not.

Because not every BES was impacted. None of ours were. And we have many.
