yup its like xp's remote pc... When I log into palm vnc I see my pc's desktop on my handheld...
I haven't had a BB in over a year... so I can't really give you the do's & don'ts of BB... But when I did have one you could open excel, & word attachments etc, but you just couldn't edit them without purchasing dynaplex's eOffice, that may have changed I don't know... I'm sure the BB guru's of the board can help you better than me.
The multimedia capibilites of the treo are what pulled me away from rim & to the palm side... mp3s/movies/streaming music etc... www.treocentral.com is a good place for you to find out more about treos..

so it is still 19.99 + 5.99 (cause sms is not in their data plan) for tmo VS 45.99 Big difference. WOW But not here to compare carriers. They all have their strengths. Just wanted to know if I was on the right plan. Thank you very much

While I won't expand on this too much because it is the BB site and will goto that site, (thank you btw), I did hear that BB are far superior in userfriendliness, is that correct??

for basic functions out of the box(email, tasks, calendar, notes, etc) about the same... a treo can get more complicated if the user makes it that way (adding 3rd party apps)...

Pocket PC's(windows mobile) have the steepest learning curve.. but that's a whole nother discussion, so I will just stop right there.

I've used Idokoro for remote server / system access from my old 7100 in the past. Its worked pretty well for me. Need to load it up on my 8700 and give it a whirl.

1. All I know is the first one recommended, Avvenu looked very easy.

2. R1, when you say Windows Mobile, they all have Windows Based OS, right? This would be the Tmobile MDA. I heard that is not that confusing. Can you really add a lot onto that? I was advised high up in tmobile that the slide mechanism is cheap, not to get it

I had the XDA IIs, which was the predecessor to the HTC Wizard (TMO MDA), that was also a slider and I never had any problems with it.

Mine is only $1, but that is pro-rated. Will that be your case?

I don't think the 8700 compares at all to the Treo 650. I own both and am not at all impressed with the functionality of the 8700. While there are a few features that I do like, such as the Bluetooth integration, Blackberry devices are truly just messaging vehicles.

My 650 worked well for all sorts of tasks, from shelling into my linux box at home, to controlling a windows desktop in my office, playing MP3s or taking pictures, or running a whole slew of applications. I'm a tad confused as to why Blackberry doesn't come with some sort of Office-type software, such as DocumentsToGo (which ships with Palm for free).

Unfortunately, my company is stubborn about only allowing Blackberry devices into their Lotus Notes system, and that's one thing that Palm does not do.
LOL.... I had the 600 then 'upgraded' to the 650. All I can say about Treo's is crash - freeze, freeze - crash - freeze and then repete that over and over and over again! LOLOLOL
