You're safe.

Of course, your BES Admin can see almost anything they want that goes/comes from your BB. They do have eyes.

How did the device get activated on the BES? Did your IT guy plug it into his computer to start the activation? I'll bet he/she loaded the IT policy on the computer to fix a device and never removed it. Once on the computer it will install to every device connected to that computer.

It was either him/her or you. Are you sure YOUR computer doesn't have the IT policy on it? I would advise your IT person of the issue. You can remove the blank policy ("Method 2") by using "Method 1" of the thread below. Once you do that you'll need to reactivate on the BES. Your admin can give you a password to activate it over the air. You are better off starting with no IT policy, then when you activate on your BES you will get the proper IT policy. Let's hope that your BES isn't pushing my "blank" IT policy!

I stood in front of him with the blackberry in my hand, so it was over the air. I swear I didn't do it. I suppose my computer could have it, because, come to think of it, I didn't get your message until I plugged it into my laptop via usb and desktop software to load some apps. Maybe a coincidence? I know I'm not trying to pull a fast one on anyone, but enterprise activation was definitely OTA. What now?

I am just an IT idiot, but why is this such a bad thing?

I just want to be on the up and up here...

Because it means that 'their' real IT Policy is NOT getting pushed to your corporate devices.

Is it possible that I did it myself, inadvertently, by installing it some time in the distant past with another device, and it migrated when I hooked up this new phone to my laptop, and if so, is that cool?

Your corporate BES admin might have an issue with it.

more likely you.

Look at the links we posted, and search your PC for the files mentioned therein to see if they are installed on your PC. If so, then you likely did it.
