The date has been pushed again, it's now October 27th. The Plantronics 655 (I think it's called Discovery) states in its ads that it doesn't work well with Blackberry units. The delay is likely evidence of that. On the new HS 655, the ad states it is enhanced for Blackberry's, so they fixed whatever problems existed on the Discovery unit. That's also probably why there is a $40 premium on the HS unit.

If and when it comes on the market, I'm buying.

The hs855 is definitly enhanced for the blackberry, it works flawlessly. The 655 plantronics was a headache.

Most places go from pre-order status to out of stock then "in stock" right before they are available. It means the product is going live.

November 6th now... this is getting annoying.

Perhaps they should call it the Playstation 3 branded headset.

Makes me wonder if they haven't found a bug that they are trying to work out and thus keep pushing the date back.

I got mine! Works wonderfully! SOOO much better than my former Jabra HS810. GOD that one sucked! This one is VERY clear to listen to and very comfortable! I thought it was strange, because I received an email from Blackberry connect annoucing the headset and some other stuff, so I clicked on the head set and VOILA! I was able to order it two weeks ago. Their pushed out timelines just must happen when they are out of stock.

where did you order from? shopblackberry says "Dec 7" as available. Meanwhile, I found it for $111 but as a pre order

RIM Blackberry HS-655 Bluetooth Headset, #HDW-12747-001 - MobilePlanet Inc.

I got it from shopblackberry.com. They keep on changing that date...guess they had a few in for a couple of days and I got one by chance. This thing is going back though. Jabra JX10 is much better and the support for the 655 tells you to search the internet if you have a defective device for additional parts. After hearing that, it was a no brainer to send that sucker back.

The Discovery 510 is a great headset, I see a lot of them out there. It's not my favorite just because its a little bigger, and the extra behind my ear isn't my favorite. I don't think you made a bad choice though

Still shows December as release date. MobilePlanet has it for $111.95 pre-order , direct from Blackberry it is $139.99 . Anyone find a better price than the $111.95 from MP? I have bought several items from MP and have found them to be more expensive than the competition. Reason I am asking is that I have the Bluespoon AX-2 since it was at the time one of the smalest on the market. Horrible range and interference problems . Just got my BB8703e (VZW) and can't live w/o the BT headset.

Default Just got the Plantronics 655

Got it today, fresh off the truck at the Cingular store. It really seems to work well, people are commenting on how much better it sounds than my H700. I have 30 days to try it out, so I would return it and get the Blackberry optimized version if there really is an upside, but I wonder what the difference could be. Obviously, Blackberry had nothing to do with the manufacturing of the Blackberry version, though they certainly could have had a hand in the specs.

I haven't noticed a delay that people are talking about (what is the deal on that exactly?) and I see nothing in any of the literature that came with it or on their web site about it not being a perfect match for the Blackberry.

Could it be that they improved the headset overall and they are identical other than one saying Blackberry on it? (That's cool, don't get me wrong, but if they function the same I'll just keep the one Cingular sold me today for 84.99.)
