My opinion (regardless of being a tester): WebIS has done a wonderful job w/this application. The effort put in its development really shows.

Having used PIMs in other platforms, for a v1.0 beta, PIBB is very complete.

Having used this for a couple of days now, I think this is a must app for the Blackberry.

I always considered the calendar (on BIS) the weak point in Blackberrys. Up until now there have been no alternatives within the Blackberry platform however. We've been stuck with what RIM gave us. Kudos to WebIS for changing that!

Just downloaded Beta on my Curve. It's asking for registration if not it is limiting my # of tasks, contacts, events?
Also when I synced with Outlook I noticed several appointments didnt sync.
Any ideas??

The limitation on the # of tasks etc, is built in to the trial version. You need to purchase a license key to go beyond that. It's only $11 though.

If you go to Options > Sync and enable Full Sync for each Contacts, Events & Tasks, PIBB will share data with the native BB PIM apps (2-way). Click the Save & Close button. Allow PIBB to restart and read the BB d-bases. From that point on, just use PIBB.

Please note that, even at this version 1.0 beta, PIBB's d-base can hold more info than the native BB PIM apps. Therefore, some entry data may not reach your BB apps (and servers, if in a data plan) as there is no place to hold it.

WebIS is developing a direct-sync tool for MS Outlook. The internal sync tool advised above fills the gap while the direct-sync tool is completed (sometime after PIBB v1.0 release).

PS Welcome to the club, and n-joy!

I do not have a data plan, so I install exclusively via Desktop Manager.

That said, if you are installing OTA, there is a directory for such files. Choose the one for your OS: 4.1 or 4.2. (4.2 is supposed to be for 4.2 & later OSs.)

You should find a file (pocketinformant_icon_pack.jad). Select it w/your browser and run it.

I hope this helps.

You need to go into options and than select categories, You can assign a color or icon to your categories.

Make sure you have synced your BB PIM data in (Options > Sync), so that your categories are transfered over to PIBB. (That or create new categories...) Then go to Options > Categories and manually configure the icon for each category.

I think that the program is quite nice from the time that I used it. However, if you have a lot of data (calendar entries, contacts, to-do's) it takes a very long time to sync and load, which takes away from the overall performance of the program.

Assuming your data is in the BB apps, do a 1-way manual sync to PIBB or set PIBB to do automatic 2-way sync. For the 1-way manual sync allow it to complete. For the 2-way sync allow PIBB to restart and complete the sync.

The 1st sync always takes the longest as PIBB is reading everything. (PIBB uses its own database, not the BBxxx8217;s.) From that point on I have had no major performance issues due to internal (PIBB to/from BB) syncing. And I have 1,683 contacts, 480 calendar entries & 714 tasks.

Also, be watchful of the small hourglass in the program title (top) barxxx8217;s right-hand side. This means that PIBB is doing an internal routine (usually syncing) that may affect performance of whatever activity you may be doing at the time. Just let PIBB complete whatever it is doing and it should be fine.

I hope this helps.

I would really like to use this program, however it will not sync my calendar items. Does anyone have any idea why it won't.

I'm running OS 4.5 on 8310 Curve.

TIA

Does not OS 4.5 allow for multiple e-mail accounts and user calendars? (I have OS 4.2.) AFAIK PIBB presently syncs with your primary account only.

I only have one email account. I have tried everything I can think of and still does work. Contacts, tasks work great.

Default PIBB with Pearl

I really like it so far, but i've noticed a few things.
First, it seems i can't pull up the options menu unless i'm below the filter line. For example, in the task list, if I'm in the top line next to the filter funnel, the options menu won't come up unless i move down to the first task.

Second, with the suretype, it is really tough to pull up the right name in the contacts view. When i try to type "s", i can't, even if i type in the whole name.
