Default I am new and need help

You will have to bare with me, I don't know anything about this but I have a question. My boyfriend bought me a blackberry pearl for christmas, but fido is my service provider, my boyfriend and I were told the phone is unlocked, but as I recently discovered, it was only the SIM card that was unlocked. Is there anyway to get the actual phone unlocked without paying anywhere from $70-$100 to get it unlocked. If I am in the wrong place to be asking this question, please re-direct me. If anyone could help me I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

This is a thread on this site about that resource: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...e-so-fast.html

I haven't tried it as I have no need to, but from what little I saw before in that thread, many people had good luck with it. Might not hurt to give it a try.

Yeah I was looking at that earlier, i'm just a little sketch on the whole thing, but from what I read it seems decent so thanks for your help! I think I will try it out and hopefully it will be good. One quick question though, it unlocks the phone not just the SIM right?

As far as I know. From what it sounds like, they give you the code for your specific phone, regardless of who the SIM is through.

But, as I said, I haven't done it, nor do I need to, so I really haven't researched it. I'm sure you can do a little further research to find what you need. Maybe even ask in that thread for clarification. I'm sure someone would have a definitive answer for you.

In this FAQ are listed three very trustworthy and reputable unlock vendors--all three are members of this forum.
