Hello,
For a different app, I have a need to be able to detect trackball roll events, even if I don't know the direction of the trackball roll, just the magnitude of the roll. The purpose is for me to be able to generate have visual or tactile feedback (flashes or 0.1ms vibrates, made bigger for rolls of multiple increments) instead of audible click feedback of trackball rolling. As I am a deaf guy, I miss the tactile feel of a trackwheel when upgrading to trackball devices.

If impossible, this prize pot is open to include RIM employees or VIP contacts that can pull the strings at RIM management to expose the proper API call (It can be blocked by default by BES policy, so no security issue). You don't even need to be a computer programmer to qualify for this particular pot.
