Welcome to the forums, man! For the love of all that's good and sensible, please exercise use of the Search button. If you can't find what you're looking for though, or something is confusing, don't be afraid to post though.
thank you all for the greetings, I look forward to many more posts and learning.
I know I should search but this is basic and would really appreciate a response. This will be my "okay noob, but next time search for the answer" question. lol
1) coming from windows mobile, im not very familiar with the BB environment, so question: is there a registry to tap into to change settings and install software?
2) what does unlocking your BB mean really, unlocking to use on other network, for worldwide use, or is it like and application unlock that allows you free reign to install and do whatever you want on the BB much like a PC?
3) and finally, when i search for software, i see WM, palm, pocketPC, smartphone, simbian(or something like that) what do I look for for the BB as far as compatability?
Any assistance would be great. If any of you guys have smartphones running WM5 or WM6, let me know. I can be helpful in that area.
Thx in advance to anyone that responds, but I will be searching for these answers as well.
1 - I don't believe there is an analogue to registry hacking on the BB. For that matter--for security sake--I hope I'm right. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong. But there are settings to know about (I'm thinking for example TCP for data for some apps). See blackberryfaq.com.
2 - Unlocking can mean unlocking gsm device so it can be used on another carrier. Depending on context, someone may be talking about password lock on the device.
3 - You should look for software that is for blackberrys. And watch for any OS limitations (such as apps that require 4.1 or geater). I've seen mention of some java apps that will run on blackberrys, for example the thread the other day concerning mobile diary apps. And bbtracker is another example.
