What is the maximum video file (AVI) that may be played on Curve? I tried a 44Mb file but it gave me a error message.

the movies i watch on my Curve are about 200 MB.
Took about 10 mins to half an hour to convert, not too bad.

In order to see an avi in your BB its necesary to reencode your video using an apropiate codec. Make a search in the forum about encode video for BB.
