Default Webcam Viewer

Please Login to Remove!

I have a BB Curve.

Does anyone know of software that I can set up to view the webcam in my house. Better yet software that has a motion detector feature would be ideal.

This would allow me to view my house / office when I'm away.

Thanks

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8300/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

It would help if you let us know what camera you have, what type of video is broadcasts, and how it actually works with a non-mobile device.

The only solution I know of is an enterprise class solution by Wallace Wireless. You would have top publish the webcam to a public site, and purchase their server based product. Probably not what you're looking to spend on this project.

Would be cool if a developer came up with an more consumer version of this application.

If you are in need of just the software then take a look here Webcam Software for Video Surveillance and Broadcast
With digiwatcher you can do all that you are requiring, motion, alert, view from phone. They also have a limited use demo to try out.

If you need software and cam with the same features and ability to expand with multiple cams, take a look here Add to Cart

There are many options out there and most have the ability to detect motion, snap shot area of detection and alert via email or text. After factoring in cost if you decide you just need to "check in on things" without motion alerts etc. most messenger services allow web cam viewing through web, though after just doing it so myself with skype I was only able to get one screen shot with my bb,(maybe someone else has had better luck with others).

uniquest - take a look at this thread, it may be of interest:

http://www.blackberryforums.com/afte...-software.html

It's basically a ghetto-tech way of doing what you want by emailing yourself the JPG from the/a webcam computer every XXX minutes. If you can find a cheap/easy webcam solution itself, this may be part of the puzzle to get it onto your handheld.

I'm using a program called Yawcam. It is a free program that can do streaming video to a webpage, upload pictures to an website via FTP, upload pictures to a local file and also has motion detection.

I've set mine up to:
  • Stream video during hours I am awake
  • Detect motion and e-mail me a picture to my BB when I am at work
  • Upload a picture to a local file every 1.5 minutes

I'm using the above "ghetto" method to have the latest picture sent to my phone every hour so I can just check things out.

If you need more information or some help PIN me.

Check out World Cam Viewer. That is what I use to look at my security cams. Just setup the url in the Favorites.

CoffeeCup Software has a webcam program (webcam) that will either FTP or email you a jpeg using pre-determined time or motion. It also has streaming capabilities.
It has a trial period so you can see if it works. I've been using it now for several months and am pretty happy.
