Does anyone have news on the launching of a new Blackberry for Nextel? I am bored of the 7100i its been two years nothing new is out!!

it is my understanding that the 7100i is the last NEXTEL device. Unless things change RIM has not committed to building another device and I don't believe that Sprint has ask for another.

The next Nextel BlackBerry will be available when Sprint integrates Nextel's technology into their own network. I believe that is a couple years out, assuming it's going to happen at all. Until then, don't expect many companies other than Motorola to release devices on Nextel.

Either learn to live with the 7100i or change carriers as these are the only 2 ways you will get a new Blackberry. iden is a dead technology, don't expect anything new for it.

i would not expect one any time soon. The new SprintNextel two-way system QChat will likely be the next blackberry for us Nextel users. it will be able to communicate with both Nextel and Sprint two-way systems. this Qchat system will not be released until Sprint completes its upgrade of the EV-DO system to Rev A which is currently underway. The upgrade should be complete by early 2008 or sooner. at that point the new qchat system will need to be set up and new phones developed. i would not expect anything new until next year.
