Default Wireless providers throttling bandwidth

Please Login to Remove!

Ok, I know there is a post somewhere else, but I've yet to hear solid proof. I've been using my 8100 off and on as a wireless modem since shortly after it's release. I know that a couple of months ago, I was getting 300-600Kbps and now I'm only getting 130-150. Is T-Mobile throttling the data bandwidth for BBs on the EDGE network now?

If there is another thread with some solid references, please link me and I am sorry for not finding them on my own.

EDGE has a theoretical maximum speed of 220-240 kbps, no matter what any speed test said you never achieved speeds higher than that.

Speeds in the 150 range are perfectly normal and expected. Data speed can vary based on you location (not all towers have equally fast net connection) and how congested your local tower is at that time.

Its not really so much the towers but the architecture on the backbone systems, the RAU etc etc. Typically the Virtual connections, or true connections are simply providing BE (Best Effort,) class of service to us. That's what we agree to, that enables the Service provider to give the Constant or a higher level of variable Bit rates to customers that pay for them.

Thus they can have one pipe or connection and can slice and dice it up and make more money off it, via selling it multiple times.
