Also, being a leftie when I go to take a picture the way I hold the phone I hit that damn lock button and lock the phone accidentally losing the now gone picture I was trying to get. WHATS WITH THAT BUTTON
If that's the least of your worries I would keep the device.

Another endorsement for PatternLock.

BerrySlider/StormSlider works like a charm on my Torch. I wish there was a way to turn that lock button into a convenience key so I can assign it to berryslider, instead of the builtin, annoying lock. Its even on sale today

I bought patternlock after the suggestions here....and I am thrilled.

It replaces the useless lock button and you can unlock with a quick 'draw'. Simply push the button and it locks your device.

It even has a nice option to auto-lock when you get a call so you don't accidentally hit buttons (which I was experiencing).

Furthermore, you can customize the lock screen to make it as simple as you would like.

/strong recommendation for patternlock

I just tried the patternlock and it works only if you don't slide the keyboard out. WOW what a joke for bb

I'm having problems getting pattern lock setup. After buying and downloading it says I have to go to options>Advanced>Applications>scroll to application> click menu>save> reboot. well I don't have an advanced in options on the torch??? Any advice?

It's confusing. It's

Options->Third party applications->Patternlock

Go in there to make all your configurations.

Default When I do that

It says please click on the application icon to run through the set up wizard. When I click the icon it says what I posted before. It's acting like it doesn't have the proper permissions???

Not the case for me. It remains locked even if I slide out the keyboard.

I just tried this also and it stays locked for me when I slide the keyboard out. I'm using the free lite version.
