I bought an unlocked Storm 9500 in Italy. Carrier : Vodafone.
The current OS is v.4.7.0.141 (Platform 4.0.0.174).
Every time I visit this forum I read incredible, raving reviews of later versions (5 and onwards) but when I launch Desktop Manager and check for new releases I invariably get the message that my current one is the latest one. How's that ??
Is it Vodafone Italy which is just being lazy in updating/authorizing (??) the newer OS versions ?
My question is a simple one : can I download a more recent version ? If so, which one ? There seem to be so many. It goes without saying that I would like something STABLE.

and is OS v5.0..... be sure to read the first post carefully before you upgrade.

Thanks for helping. I actually did read the first post but got somehow turned off by replies to that post, talking about the phone getting stuck, etc..
In your own experience, will I gain any true advantages after upgrading ? Is it a good release ? I'd hate to find myself with a phone that doesn't work any more, for some reason.

Thanks, Juwaack68 ! I upgraded to version 5.0.0 and it works flawlessly.
Faster, threaded SMS's, better typing experience, etc.
