When you have WiFI on does it only speed up the browser when your using it or does it speed up and do other things on the phone?

wifi doesn't necessarily speed up the browser, but it usually does. It doesn't do anything else to your phone though.

wi-fi on you BB is just like wi-fi on your laptop.
Its a generally faster connection to the internet, and apps that uses the internet.
(browser, WLM, BB Messenger, updates for weather apps etc etc)
