OK, this thread is getting confusing. If .163 isn't available through the first link shouldn't a new link be added instead?

So, what is the latest stable OS for the 8310? Should I download .161 or .163?

.163 is by far the worst 8310 OS I ever tried
I get no radio signal every day since I installed it and I miss important calls because of that...

Going back to .124 today

i recently upgraded to os 4.5 (multilanguage) for my 8310 curve. After the upgrade, the battery now lasts longer, it now has some new applications and the system now runs smoothly. Thanks a lot for blackberry!

Download here:

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8310:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

For the previous OS, see this link:

Online it says you should download the desktop version and install it first...but you don't say anything about that. What did you do? I'm a little confused! Sorry!

That's pretty simple to follow.

Default Re: Latest OS for 8310

I installed it yesterday to my curve 8310. It seems to be working fine. I had no glitches or anything. Thank you for your very easy to follow instructions.

What I want to know though, is what is the significance of the vendor xml file?

Again, thank you

Default HEELLPPP!!! My Curve 8310 Keeps Blanking OUT

I have a Curve 8310 which keeps going blank after a few minutes when talking or when using speaker phone. It has gotten so bad now that sometimes it goes blank even when scrolling through menu items.

Anybody else have this problem? Is there an explanation for this? Can it be corrected or should I consider throwing it into the garbage (not literally).

Please let me know
