Default Internet connection sharing?

Please Login to Remove!

I've read plenty of pages across the web that show how to use a blackberry to provide internet on a laptop, but they all seem to include installing the desktop manager. Is it really necessary to install a ~300MB app just to get the internet on the laptop through the blackberry?

Is there maybe a third party app to install on the laptop or the blackberry that would circumvent installing the hefty desktop manager?

thanks in advance!

You should install Desktop Manager so you get the ability to backup your device at the very least.

Which is unnecessary for corporate BES users as the BES backs up the device...
