Google Voice if you're able to get an invite. I have it and I must say no one knew I was using it.

I disagree, Google Voice is a type of Voip. When you have two computers talking to each other you are using an IP to IP data carrier that is converted to analog.

What is Google Voice?

What is Google Voice?
But that's not what Google Voice is doing. It's not using IP data from the handheld to the carrier's network.
Google Voice uses a voice calling gateway which uses your voice minutes from your carrier.
Makes no difference what occurs on the backend.

Google Voice is not VoIP.
You can disagree all you want, and you'll still be wrong.
The article on about.com is also inaccurate. If you want to understand how Google Voice works, then I suggest reading about it on Google's website, or better yet the Google Voice blog.

Correct. Make a call with the Google Voice app and you will see that the call is placed to another number (Google access number) and from there the calls go to the dialed number. I wish it was VOIP, but its not.
Maybe Skype can get moving and get out their app soon.

From what I have read, even the BB SKYPE app will use minutes. Won't be VoIP either.

Well what you’re saying make sense. If you have to call a port number that will use your airtime because it's going thru your carriers switch. Someone needs to build an app so it pipes thru the internet. That would make it VOIP like a lot of people use it on there computer.
