You have DM setup correctly. That's how I start mine, as well, and I neveall IT. However, if you do the upgrade with DM not setup this way you'll need a password from IT to start it.

So I cant access my visual voicemail. The program comes up. My messages are there. But I cant listen to them. It prompts me for my pin and it wont accept the pin I give. It accepts the pin if I call and listen to my normal voicemail but not my visual voicemail. Any thoughts???

Are you sure your phone automatically re-activated with your BES server? I had thought mine re-activated as well. When I went to send a message from my BES account, it wasn't there and went to one of my BIS accounts by default.
I had to reset an activation password and then re-connect to my BES server. All is well now but I am not sure if I am an isolated incident or this is to be expected during an upgrade. I seem to recall with past OS upgrades, I always had to re-activate, don't remember for sure since it has been awhile.
|
The device does have to reactivate after an upgrade. If you have DM setup properly on a work computer it will start automatically. Otherwise you need a password from IT.
|
I did the upgrade off line, so that explains it then. Thanks!

Like a lot of people I was on the fence about keeping this phone. I really WANTED to like the device but the software had too many issues. Nevertheless I decided to be patient and I am so happy I did. This phone just went from being frustrating to use to be an absolute pleasure to have. I recommend everyone to update their software.
3 things you should do to better your Storm experience:
1) Update to 4.7.0.75
2) Change your keyboard settings to the ones recommended by phonescoop
3) Do the paper trick underneath your battery. (I was against this at first but definitely noticed a HUGE difference on the hard to click corners of my screen)
After completing these 3 things ive noticed a major difference in the overall experience of using this device from its original state. Kudos to RIM and verizon to getting this firmware out as quickly as possible. Its a shame the phone wasnt launched with these changes.

Uh oh!
Installed the new Software and was working great up untill now was typing a text and all the sudden the whole screen went black and a small icon popped up in the middle of the screen said something about device reset couldnt read exactly what it said but the device reset its self, Havent had any troubles like this even before I upgraded I hope this isnt a sign of things to come! Does anyone know why it done that? It happened at a very inconveint time, as I was typin an important text and it takes so long for the device to boot back up.

This update sealed the deal for me. I'm completely satisfied with the storm now.
I'm sure RIM will be resolving any outstanding defects down the road.

just a quick question on this download, i downloaded it of course and it fixed the camera and things,
i read on I4U news that if u download this, " you might not be able to update once RIM officially issues the next BlackBerry Storm software update "
anyone ever had an issue with this from downloading a leaked OS? or did you recieve the updates in OTA form after u downloaded from a leaked source?

No; OS updates are device specific. This 9530 update will not load on a 9500.

bb newbie here, so i cant say for sure, but it seems like i got the feeling from veteran bb users that leaked OS updates are common and are just as routine as official updates, maybe someone can correct me?

If the official release is tomorrow, wouldn't it make more sense to wait till then and simply click "Check for upgrades" rather than having to install it through my computer?

Un-installed and re-installed and works fine now. After talking to verizon evidently there is a glitch with visual voicemail if you make a mistake when inputing your pin or hit your back button while signing in it sends the program in to a non responsive loop. To be fixed in the future.

Re: "official" update possibly not loading for folks who went to .75:
Would you want to field hundreds of tech support calls asking the same question? Verizon doesn't have the manpower to deal with this and would most likely not (intentially) require .65 > release vs. [any version] > release.
This is a BlackBerry, not a Treo or some other device that requires a specific previous version of software installed. Or at least that's been my experience with every BBerry I've ever owned and upgraded.

This was an immediate change! Thanks Verizon/RIM for the quick updates!
The responce is much faster!
The lag is not nearly as bad!
The update was painless!
Now I will update my wife's Storm now.
