Default Help me out here got a free blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

My dad's co worker gave him his old blackberry, its a curve i think. He had bought an Iphone so he gave it to my dad.

He gave it to me. I have verizon. But it says Sprint on the bottom of it...So can I use it?? Or no??

Yeah, your best bet is to give it back or sell it. Verizon won't let you use it on their network.

Couldn't you unlock it? I know nothing about this.. but I would assume you could and then get it to work?

i work for vzw. they wont be able to activate it for you sorry. i heard in the future sometime that we will be able to activate other CDMA phones. but at the moment they cannot do it for you.

You can't "unlock" CDMA devices in the way that you can unlock GSM devices. Verizon will not allow devices from other carriers to be used on their network.

Oh so a BB Bold is a GSM? I thought it was CDMA? Which is the newer technology of the two? GSM?

Yes, currently the Bold (and AT&T) is GSM.

You will find people arguing both sides of which is newer, so I won't. (GSM is more recent to North America, but not necessarily to the world.)

They are just vastly different approaches to data transfer. And both are rapidly advancing in technology. There are advantages and disadvantages to both.
