So, what is the oldest BlackBerry you have either owned or held in your hands?
For me it was definitely the RIM 957. Pretty hot, I know.

I don't remember the model but it was about the size of the old alpha pagers. The oldest in my possession is a nextel 6510.

Best part about the 957 was that didn't even have an integrated phone!!! Mine is still sitting in the server room and I break it out every so often just for old time sake.

857. Mobitex. Late 1999 I believe. It boasted 2mb of memory, didn't have a browser, SMS, or voice capability.

a RIM 850 on Bell South Mobility - - paid about $399 for device and $49/month for service... 2mb memory and used 1 AA alkaline battery every 3-4 weeks . . . very high-tech back then...

. . . I think the 857 had the option for wap browsing if you subscribed to it.

Owned? The 7230.
I had a work-issued 957 for a short time until we dropped the entire program in favor of simple cell phone communication. We went to using our own cell phones and submitting the bills for reimbursement.
We were a small Wall Street firm and did whatever our Managing Partner wanted to do. He was a total non-techie so you can imagine the ideas he came up with were a lot like what you'd get from Dilbert's boss. We were supposed to highlight each call that should be reimbursed, make a total on the bill, and hand it to one designated guy in the office. His job was to look our bills over, make sure we weren't submitting obvious personal calls, like to our home phones, and that our totals added up correctly. All this in addition to his regular job! We were all grumbling about having to screw with our bills every month, he was even grumpier that he had to double check our stuff, and nobody was in a good mood. We'd practically throw our bills at him with a curt "check THIS, dickwad", he'd answer back by flipping us the bird, and life went on. Then he quit. The rest of us flat out refused to become the designated checking douchebag so the program died a needed death. We just paid our own friggin' cell phone bills. Bear in mind that this was $30 to $40 per month for most of us, and we were making good coin on Wall Street. Totally idiotic idea from start to finish.

I worked with guy that had the pager style BB. I've worked with a 957/857 when a regional office president just wouldn't give it up because she liked her AT&T TDMA flip phone and her BBY separate. I think we eventually moved her over to a 7520.
Personally, my first BB was a Nextel 7510 and moved to a 7520 when they came out. After that contract ended, I bought a used 7230 and used it w/o a data plan for a while.

I played with a 957 once, I thought it was amazing at the time. You can still pick up vintage blackberries on ebay for next to nothing. I was thinking about picking up an older verizon model just for kicks.
