Default Google vs. BB Maps...and TeleNav questions.

Please Login to Remove!

OK...I currently have Google Maps on my phone, as well as the trial-version of TeleNav. But, I have heard a lot about BB Maps. What is the major difference (if any) in Google and BlackBerry Maps?

Also...since I sold my 8800 and have no built-in GPS, I will have to buy a GPS "puck" to use TeleNav to it's fullest. Does anyone here use a puck with TeleNav on their Curve? How is it? Does it use voice directions too?

first... Google Maps, IMO just LOOKS a hundred times better... Both apps (on my phone) load about the same. Both have their pros and cons...

I just removed BB maps from my phone because all I use is google maps because it gives you real time traffic info BIG PLUS FOR ME!

if you do a search in either the 8300 forum, or the GPS & Mapping forum... you will find plenty of threads about all of the above applications!

be be forewarned, if you do not have a data plan you will be charged everytime you use google maps, its web based... that will get kinda expensive!

If you mean scalable vector maps no, but they do load quickly in GMM too.

Does Google Maps work (navigation wise) with the GPS puck? I never actually did try that out.

I know it shows your location <20m, but will it know your location and update the directions as you go?

I like TeleNav GPS, but I don't like how the traffic isn't updated. I was on my way to another city last week and there was an accident about 3 miles up the freeway. I was stuck on the freeway and a drive that usually takes 20 minutes took upwards of 50-60 minutes to get there. And it said the traffic was moving 65+mph.

Or is google maps not that fast as well?
