Is there a way, like Motos, to disable AMR-HR on the Pearl, Cingular has the nasty habit of forcing the phone to use it?

This is a very good question.. I'm rather curious myself..

As well as curious is there a way to unlock the menu's or settings in order to manipulate more of the network settings than just Automatic/Manual + Network Selection.
