I did an update through the Desktop Manager. The device is a BB Tour 9630.

In fact I lost everything, even the address book. I don't care about nothing else but some important memos I had. Tried to restore the backup but no memo is back.

WTF ? What kind of update is that ? Simply ridiculous.

The OS update updates the entire device, wipes it out, reloads the OS and then restores. I assume that you do not sync your memos with Outlook?

No I don't use outlook. This kind of update is ridiculous. I don't think this can even be called an update. Updates should keep settings and everything. So every time I update I'll have to configure the entire device again, all apps, contacts, and everything ? This is poor coding and development. What a shame for a big named company.

Judging from the complaints in your other posts, perhaps a BB is not a good device for you.

To the OP, did you do a backup of the device before you did the update. This is ALWAYS advised.

If you didn't do a manual backup and if you did the update via BlackBerry Desktop Manager on a computer, then an automatic backup should have been created.

Look for a file on the computer named LoaderBackup (date).ipd where the "Date" is the date you did the backup.

If not, then perhaps DubDub and NJ are correct.
