Default Synchronisation of contacts

Please Login to Remove!

I am trying to synchronise my contacts between Outlook and my BB8900
The last thing i did was receive a new contact from a BBM message and I selected the option to add the contact to my Blackberry Contacts
I have subsequently tried to delete this contact from my contacts on my phone but it wont delete.
When i try synchronise i get the following error message when the sync process is "processing device address book"

"unable to read application data"
The sync stops and the message then says
"unable to complete sync"

How van i fix this and get the contact removed from my phone

Thanks

First thing, try a hard reset. With the power on, remove the battery for 30-60 seconds, then see if you can delete that contact. If so, then try a sync.

Thanks but a hard restart did not work
Even if i try edit the contact the changes are not accepted and the message that flashes on the screen says
"conact updated externally - changes will be lost and the viewer closed"
and the update does not work.

Multiple causes

Here are a few fixes that may work

To remove the association between an integrated email address and your BlackBerry Messenger contact list, follow the following steps:

In the BlackBerry Messenger application, display the menu and click Options.
In the Contact List section, select Back Up, followed by Back up files remotely.
Click the email address you wish to disassociate.
Display the menu and select Deactivate Email.
A message appears stating that the email address was successfully removed from your BlackBerry Messenger account.

The email address should continue to appear with a status of Not Registered in the Remote Backup list. Continue to use any email addresses that appear as Registered for remote backup and restore.

Most severe method, use caution

Overview

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The contact list on the BlackBerry smartphone has several copies of the same entry. Neither pressing the Backspace/Delete key nor clicking the Delete option in the menu removes the duplicate entries. New contacts can be added and deleted, and other existing contacts can deleted as well.

Cause

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The contact list on the BlackBerry smartphone is corrupted.

Resolution

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Delete all data and applications from the BlackBerry smartphone using the Wipe Handheld option.

Warning: When the Wipe Handheld option is used, all data is removed from the BlackBerry smartphone.

Note: Third-party applications do not need to be removed. Back up the BlackBerry smartphone before using the Wipe Handheld option, and then perform a selective restore that omits the contact list database.
