Why would anybody want to do this? Well, to save $$
I have a Bell 8330 which obviously cannot be used in UK. I also have an unlocked 8800, which cannot be used with a Bell SIM in Canada.
However, I would like to use the 8800 in the UK with a Bell SIM so I don't need to invest in new hardware for the trip. I am only planning on voice and text message use in UK.
Anybody know if this is possible?
My brain says "yes", but the Bell store wants to sell me a new phone because "it probably won't work".
If yes, then I have to buy a SIM - $5 no biggie.
Then comes the issue of activating the SIM - will it need to be in a phone for this?
Here's the deal:
A Bell SIM will work in an 8800 in the UK. However, you will need to purchase new equipment. As your current device is CDMA only, Bell cannot activate a SIM card on your account without you switching to a dual-mode and/or HSDPA-capable device like the 9550, 9700, or 9000. Personally, I would recommend changing to the 9700.
