Please Login to Remove!

Verizon requires huge deposit for new customers and everything i have read about them says they have terrible customer service..

Only reason i wanted to switch was for the storm. but looks like im not going to

Some carriers will require a deposit if you are a new customer with no billing history and/or your credit rating is low.
Verizon does this.

Nonsense-their customer service is FANTASTIC! A few months ago I was unable to pair my 8830 to a new car I purchased and Verizon offered to send a tech to my house to fix the problem, at no charge! Before that they mailed me a new 8830 after I had owned mine for almost 12 months as a free replacement to see if that would work!

trolling?

There have been several reviews about customer service with the various carriers and Sprint came out on top in the last review and Verizon was right up there as usual.

If you dont want the storm, that is your choice, not sure what youre wanting out of this post other than attention.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

Their customer service is OK. If it is an issue I can solve here, I try that first

..what need would i have for attention?

I really just wanted to be assured that i would not regret switching to Verizon. I wasnt trying to tell anyone that verizon was no good. I wanted people to tell me that it WAS good and that i should switch.

But I've been reading that they want $1000 deposit and that after a year you would get it back after you hassle verizon about it

Have you actually contacted them to find out, or are you only going by what you've read? It might be worth calling them or stopping into a store to see what they really tell you.

All carriers have issues with their customer service from time to time. I've had both exceptional experiences and ones that made me want to slam the phone down...and I deal with all the major carriers for work. Best thing you can do is read the fine print, ask questions, don't assume, and come here for help first.

Deposits are not unheard of, it really does depend on your credit. $1000.00 is ALOT, but a friend of mine required a $500 deposit, per line! As for CS, I'm new to Verizon, but so far, so good, but I haven't had any major problems, just waiting for the Storm.......

Well when i called i asked 2 question that were pretty dumb.. but i still had the right 2 ask.

I first asked my first question: Is it possible to have my own line if I'm 17.
She says no
I then ask: Do you offer any Prepaid plans?
She said no, Bye.. and i was disconnected.

This made me lose alot of faith in verizon. Even tho i pretty much new the answers to my question, I still shouldnt have been hung up on.

True, you should have at least been treated with respect, but you cannot enter into a contract until you are 18.

Yea but what sucks is that if i wait until im 18, i still will have little to no credit and will be faced with a $1000 (or maybe less idk) deposit

My best bet is to find a solution to an unlocked one from a different carrier that will work on Tmobiles GSM

I can now see why they wanted a deposit on you. I have been a verizon customer for 6 years and I have nothing but great praise for them.

Vzn needed a deposit from my son (Navy) whose prior personal cellphone history was in Italy. He had no credit history in the US on his own. He's 23.

I've been with Verizon since they purchased Cellular One in '03. Experienced nothing but good coverage and good customer service. The problem with the younger generation is they want everything today and aren't willing to work for it (ie: credit history).

Another important thing to keep in mind when dealing with a customer service representative is that they can have good days and bad days.

I'm currently on T-Mobile, and for the most part, their CS is outsanding - I get priority service (I'm pushed the to the "front of the line" when I call in since I've been with them when VoiceStream was created).

At the same time, I have dealt with some reps who were less than helpful and rude - no matter where you go, you'll almost always find the "bad apple" in the group.

The HIGHEST possible deposit at Verizon is $400. And this would be due to having extremely poor credit as Verizon has rather loose deposit standards.
