Cool Basile says today he's "hopeful" for an early Oct. AT&T release!

Please Login to Remove!

And he said it at the CEDIA conference presentation today... with a chuckle.

Meanwhile, Apple releases the 2.1 (supposedly fixes all 3G issues) firmware tomorrow..
RIM/AT&T missed the boat and lost thousands (maybe hundreds of thousands) of potential Bold owners in the USA! Don't start the "two different markets stuff" - unless your corporate IT has a BES system- more and more business and consumers have a CHOICE, and the Bold hasn't even been a choice in the US yet! The more money invested in iPhone APPS, the less likely folks are to change also. A BIG mistake by RIM IMO. I have both a curve and iPhone, but find most of my time using the iPhone now. It's getting too late for the Bold to sway me.

Yeah, got an email from our ATT rep this morning that says Oct release. This is the same rep that was onsite 4 weeks ago and told us late Sept release. *yawn*

I think RIM, at&t or both missed the boat also. I think the BlackBerry is more business-centric and prefer using it over my iPhone for day to day use but at&t sold alot of iPhones and I'm sure many of them would have chosen a Bold if they had the choice.

Oh well. Nothing anyone can do about it now...other than release the darn thing already!

Personally I'm not sure its too late, I tried the iphone - the lack of MMS (??!?) and an all in one message folder sent me back to the blackberry after a month however ... once they get that figured out I'll do anything to drop the BES server crap.

It doesn't seem like Apple is interested in correcting any of those issues anytime soon as evident with firmware 2.1. I'm good with waiting for the Bold. Hopefully we will get it here in the states next month.

Did you read that when he spoke about an October release he chuckled? Leads me think he is aware of how long the berry community has been waiting for this device to release.

I have a friend here in LA and she does publicity for RIM. She is planning a local launch party but there is no date set for it yet as a release date hasn't been communicated to her.

We're in the same exact boat, and I happen to know exactly how correct you are; anyone that spouts that "two different markets stuff" just plainly has not owned both devices and learned about them long enough.
