Default 8820 Track Ball & Key Pad Backlight

Please Login to Remove!

hello,
i just got an 8820 3 days ago and something doesn't seem right about the phone. The track ball and key pad backlight is intermittant at best. Am I missing a setting or is this an automatic thing? I'm still well within my 30 days at ATT, should I bring it back to exchange it out for a new one?

Any help would be much appreciated. I come from WM devices and I feel like I'm learning how to use a Mac. I love the BB but this backlight thing needs to be resolved.

thanks in advance

Are sure its not the light sensor doing this. Its a cool feature of the blackberry where it adjusts the backlights based on the lighting around you.

Put your finger over the top led indicator, and if the keypad back ligth comes on in a sec or two its fine, you can turn the feature off though if you dont like it, but it does save you battery life.

In dark environments the light should be dim and bright outsude, such as sunlight so that you can see the screen.

edit: by pressing top power key you can also adjust level of backlight manually...
