So, I bought a Blackberry 7280 w/ broken LCD off eBay to use the housing (basically perfect) on my 7230 that's all scratched up. Anyway, I got the 7280 open no problem. My beloved 7230, a different story. I can't get three of the black screws out. They aren't stripped, but the screwdriver just won't grip (it's a T6).
They all look like they have the spikes inside the screws.
Actually, those types of screws take a special type of tool to undo them....you may want to hunt it down, or take it to a repair facility and have them do it.
hey... you asked for it... go to your local hardware store and look for a hollowed out T6... they are usually all mix and match type things... the center pin is just another deterrent for people so they don't take their gadgets apart... you should be able to find one pretty easy. If you know anyone who has/does work on compaq laptops, I guarantee they will have the right one.
I bought a set of security bit torx screwdrivers for $8.99 at Fry's Electronics. They are just a regular torx driver with a hole in the middle. I didn't have any special need for the security torx drivers but they were cheaper than a regular set of torx drivers for some reason.
