Hi. my GF's Blackberry is the 8703E

the problem is her phone only allows 3 rings before the automatic voicemail kicks in. since the blackberry is in a holster, by the time the device is out , she has no more time to answer. this is very annoying for me as I get her voicemail all the times.

in phone setting , it seems a maximum of 3 rings is enabled.. am I missing something? how to make it 4 or 5 please?

and since I'm here, do you know of a good holster that allows the phone to be used as a phone while still inside the holster?

You should get more rings if you disable voicemail.
There is usually a number you can call which is usually found in the SIM Address Book. If you cannot find such a thing; contact the service provider and query how to disable the voicemail.

If you have voicemail disabled you usually get 30 seconds of ringing.

I think the issue is more with your voicemail setup and not the phone. Try the options in your voicemail.

If I'm not mistaken here, I believe I read somewhere that Bell is one of the carriers that you have to call their CSD in order to change the ring time.

can someone explain how can I get into the voicemail setup , as Bake explained please?

what I do , and it doesn't work is I go to profile -->scroll to advanced--> scroll to phone only (activate) --> Edit-->scroll to phone--> Edit-->number of vibration is maxed out to 3, and that doesn't solve my problem.

any other path I'm not aware of ?

@ Irish Rose, are you sure the number of rings before the voicemail kicks in has something to do with the carrier? I would think it's more in the blackberry setup to decide....?

Yes, it is up to the carrier.

Yes, the amount of time that your phone rings before the call goes to voicemail is preset by the carrier. The default time, is usually set at 20 seconds, which "some" carriers have a way of changing that, while others like Verizon for one, no longer allow increasing the ring time........ AT&T, and T-Mobile both allow their customers to change the amount of ring time up to 30 seconds by going through customer service or punching in a code into their phones.

With AT&T I was able to increase the ring time to 30 seconds myself by dialing **61* (enter voicemail # here) ** 30 #. Last month when I still had Verizon, they told me they no longer set their customers ring time past the 20 second default time............. Contact Bell, if this is who you have service with and see what they say about it.
