Question Battery-life / usage

Please Login to Remove!

Would I be correct in assuming that the same rules apply with these more recent phones as did with older phones in that the battery life is greatly reduced if you use Wireless, Bluetooth and the camera a lot? Or has there been some sort of amazing innovation which means these apps use less power now?

Thanks

You would be correct, IMHO. Battery life always depends on usage. Talking, wireless, surfing, Bluetooth, etc. are all big users of power. Another and perhaps greater culprit is searching for a signal, especially if you are in a 3G fringe area and it is constantly looking for a 3G signal.

From what i have read, the more recent OS (ver 5) has helped but it still boils down to how much you use it. And you really can't judge it by going person to person, since we all use the device differently.

Wirelessly posted (8820)

If you are talking about service time, yes, the more you are using the blackberry, the faster you will drain the battery. Everything in turn increases power consumption to some degree. I myself turn off wifi and bluetooth when not using. I do leave GPS enabled all the time.

Regarding battery lifespan, see http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.p...m_Battery_Life.

Thanks Dubdub. I hardly ever use calls but do try to use my Wireless as often as I can but I think it's reducing my battery life to will try and cut down.
