Default How To Unlock Vendor Themes

Please Login to Remove!

Okay, I've updated my T-Mobile BlackBerry Pearl 8100 to the new OS 4.2.1.107 and would like the old TMO Zen List Theme back. I've found the BlackBerry .alx file and I can only view it in notepad if I add it to winzip. This is what my BlackBerry .alx file looks...

I have done a search but it seems there are a few ways to do this and I just don't want to mess anything up. Sorry.

Next time please add code tags to the code text if you want to post that much info. Code tags: Put those around your text and it will put your code into a separate window so we don't have to go through all of it to read the next post.

I attempted to edit and add the code tags and it lost much of the data. I've edited your post. Follow the instructions in the FAQ that the above poster gave you.

Additionally, this method of editing the Blackberry.alx file isn't going to bring back the TMo Zen list theme. It's not included in the new OS. The new OS contains only the Icon grid zen theme.

Does that mean I can never get it back? Can I take the BlackBerry .alx file from my v4.2.0.64 and drop it into my v4.2.1.107? Will that work?

No, but you can take the old net_rim_theme_xxxxx_xxxx.cod file from the .64 OS java folder and drop it in your .107 java directory.

I'm in the java folder but I'm having a hard time locating it. Am I looking for a theme .cod that contains the word "List"?

It's named:

net_rim_theme_100_240x260_b.cod

Copy it into your java folder for your new OS (it will replace the grid theme.) Then run application Loader again and it should make the change. Core Applications might say "downgrade" but that's ok.

Default 8703e Unlocked Vendor Themes

If I unlock the vendor themes, and then load them using the Desktop Manager Application Loader, will it wipe my BB like it did during the OS upgrade? I don't want to have to reactivate on my company's BES server if possible.
