Default How to destroy a BB?

Please Login to Remove!

Yes, sometimes an extreme sacrifice is required.

Do you think high voltage on the USB port would suffice?

Thx,

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7290/4.0.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)

Maybe this is the wife or husband of a hopelessly addicted, crackberry addict. Tired of it coming between you and your significant other? Lol. I'm sure there are plenty of other addicts around here that would happily take it off your hands for you.

Give it to a senior manager at your company. They can destroy any technology.

Talking

the line for our IT...

The sum of the group destroys the efforts of the individual.

This means on an individual basis these guys are the BEST…put the entire group together and they can get nothing accomplished, it gets too damn complicated.

Mountains of information, NO DATA….

Sledgehammer.

If not, then a baseball bat (thwack!), a rock (thump!), a bowling ball (thump!), a golf club (thwack!), the top floor of your office building (drop out of window on the alley side, not the pedestrian sidewalk or roadway side) or your imagination.

Do it only if you have a marriage to save.

However, why not mail it away instead. There's people who'll send you a SASE envelope you can slip the BlackBerry in, or provide you with a FedEx account number for FedEx pickup.

Nonono, fact is we were provided with BB to give support to users (i.e. the cited clumsy senior managers), but some envy obnoxious bastard who was not given a BB made a fuss with top management, so there's a chance it will be retired to everybody.

Of course, it would be a shame to return it unharmed, but I cannot crush it with a baseball bat. I need to screw it up beyond repair in an inconspicuous way.

Bye,

I'd take it apart, pull out the system board, glue the screen and keyboard in place, and put it back together... or something along that line... maybe jerry-rig the vibrator to backlight power or something.at least make it comical...

cd.

In that case I would "Lose" the device. I could offer asylum here in Michigan for you. I promise it would be "taken care of"...

My users here have proved that the BB doesn't survive:
* In a Swimming Pool
* In the lake
* In the Ocean
* Being run over by a car
* Put in your pocket with your keys

But if you do spill Diet Coke on it, it will survive!!!

It's still possible to resurrect a BlackBerry that's damaged by liquids. You must IMMEDIATELY remove the battery. Then you must go to the drugstore immediately, buy a jug of distilled water, totally disassemble the BlackBerry with a Torx T6 screwdriver, and immediately put the BlackBerry motherboard into the distilled water.

If submerged completely in chlorine or beer or cola or salt water, your window of time is much smaller, so if your BlackBerry is soaked, then running the BlackBerry under tap water will get rid of the salt water faster, buying you enough time to get the distilled water and the Torx T6 screwdriver. (Tap water is a lesser evil than saltwater/cola, so wash the BlackBerry immediately). When it's disassembled, shake the motherboard under distilled water for 10 minutes. Then put the motherboard on a paper towel and bake at about 150-180 degrees F (NEVER above boiling point!). A preheated oven with a thermometer, will do - but turn off the heater and cool the oven down below boiling point before you put the motherboard in. Bake for about 2-3 hours, briefly turning on the oven for about 30 seconds once in a while to maintain the approx 150-180 degree F temperature. This dries out the BlackBerry.

The moral of the story is.... Wash dirty water (pool/ocean/lake) with progressively cleaner water till you're washing in distilled water, then bake the water out to dry. Especially with ocean water, put the BlackBerry under tap water IMMEDIATELY, because you have only a few minutes before the salt water corrodes. Tap water won't completely irreparably damage a motherboard for a few hours, buying you enough time to get distilled water and a T6 screwdriver.

The screen of the BlackBerry is a sensitive matter. The ribbon cable of the 950 was poorly water resistant, for example. Don't wash the screen if you can avoid it, but you have to anyway if you got salt water exposure (better safe than sorry).

You have approximately a 50-50 to a 75-25 chance of resurrecting a BlackBerry this way. The most important thing within the first 15 seconds of water exposure is REMOVE THE BATTERY. (Short circuit danger) Resist temptation to test the gadget after it's been exposed to water.

The true story of fixing my BlackBerry with a 10-minute distilled water bath is located here:
BlackBerry Motherboard Distilled Water Bath REPAIR Method

These instructions apply to PalmPilots, PocketPC's, Treo's, digital cameras, and other gadgets that get internally contaminated by liquids.
