Blackberry OS 6
Please Login to Remove!
Hi Guys,
Got a new BB9780 which of course comes with OS6, this OS is a big change and not one i like, i have told that a downgrade to OS5 is not possible for this device, if this is true can anyone suggest a way round or themes based on OS5...

Themes are device and OS specific, so one designed for OS 5 on a 9700 most likely will not work.
You could contact the developer of the OS5 theme(s) you like to see if they are doing any for the 9780 and OS 6.
Or you could try the OS 5 theme, but then you risk having corrupt files and having to wipe the device and reload the OS.

What is it you don't like about OS 6.0? You may find they are fixed in 6.1, but we don't know when that will appear.

I hate the shortcuts... Ie search bar in the home screen and the fact I have a favourite and download tab, it seems I have to press more buttons to get by then in os5.

there are some nice themes out now that fix the annoying part of os 6. with getting rid of the side scroll windows. I enjoy it much better now know it won't jump to another screen on me. I paid a buck for a theme but there are ones that are free.

OS 6 is pretty cool for me i like it and i used not to like it before but i got used to it now and i feel that i am new...there are some new features like social feeds that os 5 doesnt support which made me like os 6 its great...try to change the theme it might help and dont worry you will get used to it :D

the paid for one is called Pageless, and the free one which is almost the same except has a cool curve look is called Simple, I got it from someone on crackberry forums.
Both these make it work exactly like OS5

I have been looking around on crackberry and BB app world but cannot find these themes, can anyone post the links with some quick instructions.
I attempted to download a theme called Simplex from the BB app world but it came back with incompatible errors...

It will install a simple theme with 6 icons on the bottom.
Once it downloads, it will ask you to install it. |

yep... tried 3G & WIFI.
All other websites are ok.
I just tried to save that download file from windows to BB media card and install it that way and get 'download failed'.

Only suggestion I can offer is to upgrade to the latest version of the OS that is out there - 6.0.0.448 - and see if that helps.

The Simplex theme works perfectly and gets rid of the annoying sliding screens...finally. Now, if I could only figure out how to change the wallpaper on the main screen with all the apps, to the same as the home screen...I'd be ecstatic!

I been playing with theme builder and I think you can only do that from there.
