Default Removing phone app...

Please Login to Remove!

One of the things I was used to from other BB's was the home screen shortcuts (c = compose, etc.) when dial from home screen was disabled. I barely use the phone on the 7100, so I was wondering, since there is no option to disabled dial from home screen, if I remove the phone app will this enable those shortcuts?

I would think that the only reason they are not presently available is because of the phone app, therefore if removed, shouldn't they by default appear?

and here we have it...

m = messages
e = BB messenger
a = address book
l = calendar
b= browser
v = saved messages
t = tasks
d = memo pad
r = alarm
f = profiles
u = calculator
s = search
o = options
k = lock

Have I missed any? I'm wondering now that this worked, maybe I should install the phone app from the 7290 to get the "disable dial from home screen" option...

I should qualify this by saying that a lot of those shortcuts are theme dependant, they will all work on the 7290 small icons theme, but some such as A and S, only A will work in the o2 theme. The rule seems to be that only the first letter on double letter keys will have its shortcut work in the list theme.

Do any of them work on the default 7100t theme?

Most of them work except, as per my rule, where they are the second letter on the key. Also, there is no "compose" icon/button in the default theme or the O2 theme.

I wonder about this because how would the 7290's phone files handle the dedicated send/end button on the 7100?

i would imagine that it wouldn't be too hard to enable multi-platform installations within one install package..

using the simulator app, which has multiple handheld templates using the same pool of COD files, the two handhelds use the same modules, so it appears like a feature that should be requested to be enabled for the reduced keyboard handhelds...

Has the disable dial from home screen been included in 4.1 for the 7100 series?
