Default 8100 Pearl Email Help

Please Login to Remove!

Please help a nOOb here. Our sales manager has a Pearl v4.5.0.102 and is having problems with his email. He originally set his phone up with a MSN email account. The problem with this, according to both Blackberry and AT&T techs is that the BB will not work with a MSN email account. The problem is he can't get back in to the setup to change to his earthlink account.

When I try to add a new personal email address it comes back with the error that an account already exists for this user. I could really use some guidance from the BB masters out there!!!

By the way GREAT site!!! I've learned a lot over the past couple of weeks from reading the great posts.

Default Shameless Bump

Sorry folks, this is a shameless bump I admit. Coming from an all Firefighers forum (they are brutal on nOObs) I fully understand the "search" function and reading previous posts. I have went through several searches and have yet to find a solution to my problem. As you can imagine it is very inconvenient not being able to receive your emails while you are out of the office.

From the reading I have done on this site I know there are some BB geniuses on this site. I would really appreciate some help with this issue. If there is some information I have left out, please just ask.

Tks.

sounds like your trying to add a new BIS accont for in on the website, you won't be abel to.

You're going to have to log in with the details he set up when he first registered, if he can't remember them, just pop the pin details i nthe forgot details link and it'll send them to him.

But I don't see what the problrem is with using a BB with msn/hotmail, no one I know of has had a problem with it!?

Thanks for the reply Skyman. You are correct, this is a BIS account. I was not involved with the initial setup or the communication between AT&T and BB. I was told that BB said since he did not "pay" for his MSN account, it would not work. To me this makes absolutely no sense. I tried to enter his initial information, but I got an error every time. I will have him put his PIN in and see if it will send him the information.

Thanks for you help.

Weeelllll........ who ever told you that is half right!!

if you wanted to use msn/hotmail using the pop3 protocal (i.e. to enable you to download your mails via outlook etc) then M/S will make you upgrade to a premium package for which they do charge, but if you use the auto config part of the BIS site (so just where you put in your email address and password) then the BB will work perfectly well for your msn/hotmail.

I know I've certanly set up hotmail address's on friends BlackBerry without any trouble.

Weeelllll... I tried what Skyman suggested and put in his PIN in the user name field on the "forgot password" link. The screen showed "your password has been successfully sent to your BlackBerry device" however I have not received a text message with the password and user name. Is there a master reset or is there some other way to get his BIS email setup? I am sure some of you BB geniuses are aware of a fix.

Thanks for your help!!!
