I wonder whether the Bold has an HSDPA indicator similar to that of Nokia E51, where you can see the "3.5G" indicator instead of the regular "3G" when you are browsing under HSDPA coverage.

I haven't seen anything which indicated that I was connected @ HSDPA speeds although you can speedtest you're mobile @many mobile sites. I'm experiencing wrong result because of the browsers cache. Best way to speedtest is to use the phone as a modem (thetering).

Try browsing to speedtest.net or use another site (near your location)
I'm using speedtest.bbned.nl

What's network diagnostics telling you?
Go to:
1) Options
2) Network
3) Blackberry option button
4) Start Diagnostic Test

At the end, HSDPA is in the 3rd generation.... Everything between 3G and 4G is the 3rd generation.
