I have the BB 8320 and I was wondering if there is any way that you can release the IP (or flush..w.e term u might use) from the device. I am trying to use it at my university and I have spoken with my networking department (as I work with them) and the IP that the BB has been assigned on the WIFI is having problems, so I was wondering if there is a way to release it in order to get a new one???

(Without reinstalling the OS)

This is the way I've been doing whenever I have problem with wifi:
Goto "Manage Connection" and uncheck "WiFi". Wait 15 seconds and recheck wifi.

I had tried that and it did not work. It is that our university has an ip lease of like 8 days. And if you release it it assigns you a new ip. That is just about the only way. Just shutting off the wifi and turning it back on does not work as you just get reassigned the same ip. So I need to find a way to flush it or release and renew it

I think the DHCP server remembers the MAC address of the device and tries to assign the same IP every time the device is connecting. It has to be flushed from the server. May be try to setup manually and assign a static IP.

Yeah, you'll have to kill the IP lease at the server. Then refresh the WiFi connection.

ok, i just didn't want to do that and was hoping that there was a way to do it from the phone.. surprised RIM didn't think of that one.
