Is it possible for the 8130 to sync via DM on Bluetooth? Or do you still have to use the old USB cable?

It will sync via bluetooth. However, you need to uninstall the widcomm drivers and install the native XP drivers.

The USB cable is much faster, though.

Are you sure? I had thought you need to use the Windows builtin drivers. At least this is the case for Windows XP SP2. I am not sure about Vista.

You need the Windows builtin drivers. I have just found this documentation at blackberry.com.

It's not simple, and I haven't tried it yet, but I do know others have posted that they have gotten it working...see the link below:

BlackBerry Search Results

This is one area that was a disappointment for me...the fact that the Pearl can't sync via BT w/anything but the XP SP2 BT stack. I hope that as they push more and more into the consumer side they will work out a fix for this.

I haven't had any trouble syncing my Outlook calendar with my Verizon 8130 using Bluetooth. I am running Windows XP with Service Pack 2 and an onboard bluetooth adapter (Acer TravelMate 8104). Desktop Manager can be configured by clicking Options->Connection Settings and selecting Enable Bluetooth support. After that it was just a matter of setting up my Sync settings through Desktop Manager.

Yep...my bad. Sorry folks. I thought the widcomm drivers were the native xp drivers.

I finally decided to try this out, and just did my first BT calendar sync...

Cool!

Luckily, I was able to lean on information provided by Corey, another BB Forums member w/an HP laptop...from this thread:

http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...bluetooth.html

I added his suggested entries to my bth.inf file, uninstalled the HP BT drivers using Add/Remove programs, turned BT off and then on again, and browsed to the bth.inf file when the add new hardware dialog appeared. Drivers installed from that inf file perfectly.

Then I used the instructions at the RIM link provided above in this thread to pair the Pearl w/my laptop, and set up BT connection in DM, and I was off and BT-Syncing!

Very nice...I'll be able to sync at work or home w/the Pearl in my pocket, or sitting on my desk, w/out messing with the USB cable.

A small thing that makes me very, very happy!
