A couple of question regarding Blackberry Curve 8900 :

1. In non-blackberry phones, when pressing down on the main control, you can view the Contacts list. Is there any way that I could replicate this behaviour in a BB? In a BB it takes more steps to access your Contacts (scroll with the ball, then click).
2. There is a strange behaviour when phone is locked. If the phone is locked, when somebody in the contact list calls, phone rings with the regular ringtone (doesn't use the contact's Custom ringtone), and it doesn't display the contact info. (Name, picture, etc.). This behaviour is random (sometimes in locked mode phone will ring the correct tone, and display the contacts info. (picture, name, etc.), and sometimes it won't. This happens with the built-in themes, or with any other downloaded theme.
3. Are there any free screensaver software for BB? I would like to use my collection of pictures to setup a screensaver that runs when phone is connected/charging or whe it is locked. I downloaded a free screensaver from S4BB Limited, it installs OK, but nothing happens when I click on the program Icon.
4. Can the keyboard and ball be changed to another with different colors? Would like to customize the keyboard with another lighting color, and the ball that lights in different colors.

assign a side key to open contacts

You have contact protection enabled and included contacts.
change include contacts to No and it will display the information.

no there isnt such a screensaver on a BB

the colour of the light, no.
change the keyboard and trackball to ones that are different colours
(i.e. a red trackball)
then yes.
you need to completely disasemble the phone, which also voids warranty.

If you press and hold the answer key down while in the phone mode it will take you to contacts. Otherwise, I just have the Contacts Icon at the top of my Home Screen.

- I have the side key to open the contacts, I just figured if there is a program that will allow me to do this (continue to roll the ball down, after I reach the bottom of the screen, even if I am on top of an Icon). Thanks for the info. on the Contacts protection, it seems to be working now.

If you have "Dial From Home Page" disabled, you can press the "A" key to go to the address book.
