Default weather radar images

I run a seasonal business in the Chicago area and am very dependant on when and where it is going to rain. I stopped by my local Nextel/Sprint store to play with the blackberry 7520, since I do not own one yet. The most specific radar that I could obtain showed 3 states, along with northern Illinois.

Does anyone know if I can pull up very local radar on a blackberry like I can on the internet? On the internet, I can get almost to street level of zoom on the radar, but I couldn't find how to do that with the blackberry.

Hopefully, someone has some experience, as by boss is buying me a phone tomorrow, but I want to get him to go with a blackberry as opposed to a regular nextel phone, and I think that if i can get this "zoomed in" radar, I will have it sold!

Check out Pocket Express (http://express.handmark.com/weather.php ).

It provides local radar ... of course, there is an annual fee ..

I saw that earlier when i was looking around the web, but I can't tell how close it gets... street level, county, state, region or what. I wonder if anyone uses it could help me.

Other possibilities (depending on phone service):

http://www.weather.com/mobile/downlo...l?from=wxtools

http://www.wxsys.com/

http://my-cast.com/

Another option is go to your local news channel web site and get their link for news on your phone, then you can check the weather, radar and so forth from there.

Here's what I do.

-Go to www.weather.com
-Enter your zip code.
-Scroll down to the radar image.
-Right click on it.
-Choose copy image location
-Paste the link somewhere and copy it down.
-Open the Internet Browser on your Blackberry.
-Go to the link for the image you copied down.

There's your radar image. Set it as a bookmark and then you can go back and check it anytime you want.

You can get the links for any zip code you want. Create a folder with all the different locations you want to check in your bookmarks and they'll all be neat and organized for easy referencing.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7520/4.0.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)

I work construction. Detailed radar right over my head is important. And in a big area like Chicago it can vary greatly. I'd try My-Cast as listed above. You can zoom in closer than anything I've used. Plus, you can use the gps to pinpoint your location. Try version 5 on a 7520.

Thanks everyone for the response. I need the radar to be as pinpoint as possible... it can mean a thousand dollars a day easy, if I screw up. Consequently, I have downloaded my-cast, but it says that my nextel account is not eligible for this download, so i am waiting to call nextel in the morning to see what's up.

If you look on the various online sites you may find what you are seeking. Do as lgreenberg suggests and copy/paste the link into your browser (send yourself and email with the link).

I do this and it works well.

You can also use the NOAA WAP site for quick but very detailed text forecasts. These are the ones that the TV stations seem to often base their forecasts on.

Does anyone use my-cast with the Nextel Blackberry? Is it compatible with this phone?

I do like lgreenburg, Have the like to the radar image jpg for weather.com.

However the weather.com radar image is for the whole state.

I also use a second radar image link from the local TV station web page, which gives a little more local radar view of about 1/3 of the state
