Has anyone had any luck getting different themes (other than the themes currently installed) to work with 4.2? What are they?

If you remove or rename the .alx file from your blackberry folder on your computer.....you'll be able to add any theme made for your device. Jibi has the .alx replacement that I recommend.

The 4.2.1 Themes for 8700 are

AT&T
BB Dimension Icon
BB Dimension Today
BB Dimension Zen
Bell
02 Icon
Vodafone Today

The 4.1 OTA download of smoothie also works.

That's all I've gotten so far. Since Smoothie works, I would theorize that anything from theme builder would as well. None of the other vendor or any OTA themes from mobile.blackberry.com will work.

Where is Jibi's file, I have been waiting for it and looking for it. I did my own modification which I think is right, but would rather use his. His last update to the .alx post is 3/20/07, do you know something I don't? thanks.

Jibi hasn't posted the edited alx I believe!

You referring to the BLACKBERRY.ALX file?

yes..that is the file. I just renamed it.
