I set up my email last night when I got my phone. When I did that, it put an AOL Mail icon on my home page (or whatever that page is).

When I get emails, I get the notification in the mail/message icon that came with the phone AND the aol new icon sent to me.

How do stop that?

Thats how the BB works, All emails go to the messages folder also.

No, that's how the BB used to work.
Newer devices with OS 5, such as the 8530, can control what gets displayed in the 'Messages' icon.

Messages > Options > Inbox Settings
Uncheck any accounts you don't want to show in the messages icon.
