I've got icons for "Messages" and my personal email account on my home screen. Whenever someone sends me an email to my personal account, it registers as a new email AND a new message, so both icons will display the new message icon. Is there any way I can prevent new emails from showing up under "Messages"?

The Messages folder is the accumulator for ALL messages. The messages aren't on the device twice.

Some use the Messages folder, for a single inbox, while others choose to hide it and use the individual Message/Account folders for filtering. To each his own.

So, I could essentially just hide the personal email icon and then everything would show up under messages, yeah? Because it sounds like there's no way to have emails show up only under a separate icon. And if I hide the Messages icon, I won't see new text and MMS messages. Is that right?

You can separate your emails from your SMS/MMS. In a message list, press the Menu button. Go to Options > General Options > SMS and Email Inboxes > Separate.


And yes, you can hide the Messages folder or the individual Email folders if you want.
